Gold Coast forward Ryan James faces a one-week ban for a high tackle that left Wests Tigers star James Tedesco with a broken jaw.

The NRL match review committee on Sunday hit James with a grade two careless high-tackle charge, meaning he will have to clear his name at the judiciary if he is to play in the Titans' crucial game against Newcastle next week.

Titans front-rower David Shillington has been stung for dangerous contact on Tigers five-eighth Mitchell Moses but will escape suspension with an early guilty plea.
