The Titans 22-8 loss to the Broncos last night isn't such a bitter pill to swallow. The Titans had suffered more casualties than the Kennedy's leading up to this match. Co-Captain Greg Bird was out due to suspension while Kevin Gordon, Ashley Harrison and Albert Kelly were all ruled out before the game due to injuries. During the game we lost Will Zillman after a brutal tackle gone wrong left him flat on his back and severely concussed while Aidan Sezer apparently tore a pectoral muscle.
Kalifa Faifai Loa got his first run on for the Titans on the wing after his hat-trick for Tweed Heads in the Q-Cup last week, Paul Carter started at lock and Beau Henry stood in for Albert Kelly. By the end of the game Dave Taylor was toiling away in the centres and Paul Carter was in the halves. Both Carter and Taylor were busier than a pair of blue-arsed fly's.
Despite the loss it was an impressive game by our boys, who showed true grit in the face of doom and adversity. The Titans clear passion and resolve was shown through several flare-ups scattered throughout the game. The Broncos were only able to heap some points on us during the last 20 minutes of the game when the Titans were absolutely knackered due to being down to a 15 man rotation since the first half hour of the match.
Anthony Don was our only try scorer. Don got across when he saw Broncos winger Daniel Vidot out of position. Once Don saw the overlap he bolted through without a worry in the world.
Faifai Loa did not disappoint in his debut for the Titans. He charged the ball back with some real power carries out of his own half proving to be a bit of a handful for the Broncos defence.
